For most people, anxiety is like a quiet background hum that has been with them for so long they don’t know any other way. Even when the anxious behaviors are draining your energy, focus and ability to enjoy life, you still may feel that they are necessary to keep you or your loved ones safe. Over time, anxiety often begins to shape how we feel about ourselves, our relationships and the world around us, often without even realizing it.
You constantly feel tense, on edge and unable to feel present in your body.
You overthink situations, replay conversations or anticipate anything that could go wrong.
You struggle to switch off at the end of the days or when you have time to relax.
You overfunction, overprepare and think of yourself as a problem-solver or planner.
Certain behaviors, environments or situations cause extreme worry, stress and panic.
You have physical symptoms like tension, digestive issues, sleeplessness, etc.
You prefer to take charge in situations because it feels safe, even when you’re exhausted.
Every person’s anxiety looks different so the way anxiety may be showing up in your life is entirely unique to you. It can be shaped by your past experiences, your current stress levels, the ways your mind has learned to cope with uncertainty. In therapy, we focus on identifying the different anxiety patterns showing up in your life so we can begin understanding

We draw from a variety of evidence-based anxiety therapies and tailor our approach to your individual needs and goals. Above all, we believe that the most important part of good anxiety therapy is trust. We aim to provide a therapeutic relationship where you feel genuinely safe and unconditionally accepted – so you can know that someone is in your corner no matter what.
Helps you learn how to recognize anxious thought and belief patterns when they are happening and teaches you what you can do to shift them towards healthier more supportive alternatives.
Helps you build practical skills to manage overwhelm, emotional intensity and stress responses in those moments when you feel like anxiety has taken over your ability to think clearly.
Helps your brain reduce the intensity of any anxiety that is rooted in past experiences. It can help you be less reactive to your anxiety triggers and feel more present in your body.

We follow a no-judgement approach in regards to neurodivergence that takes overwhelm, masking & executive functioning into account.

If your insurance isn’t in-network through Headway, you may still be able to receive reimbursement through out-of-network benefits using a service like Mentaya. If you’re unsure how any of this works, we can walk you through your options and help you figure out the best solution

Absolutely. Therapy can help you identify where anxiety is showing up in your life and understand some of the root causes that may be contributing to that anxiety. Together, we then develop tools to help you manage your daily symptoms as well as address some of those root causes so you can have longer-lasting anxiety relief.
There isn’t one clear answer to this. The best therapy for anxiety usually depends on your unique experiences and needs. Some people benefit from approaches that focus on anxious thought patterns, while others need support processing past experiences or regulating their nervous system. We use evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT and EMDR so we can tailor the anxiety treatment to what works best for you.
This is a common question and it’s not always easy to tell from the outside. Stress is usually connected to a specific situation and tends to improve once that situation passes. Anxiety is often more persistent and can continue even when there’s no obvious problem to solve. It shows up as behaviors that you’ve had for years, such as chronic worry, overthinking, physical tension, difficulty relaxing or falling asleep.
Definitely not. Many people seek therapy long before their anxiety becomes overwhelming. If anxiety is affecting your relationships, work, decision-making, sleep or overall quality of life, therapy can help you manage that.
I don’t know if any therapist can answer that question in advance. A solid year of therapy can often make a decent change for most people. Some come for less and some for more. It depends on what you’re working through, how long patterns have been in place and what you want your life to look like on the other side of them.
Finding the right therapist is hard! If you’re ready to get in touch with us, we invite you to schedule a free, no-pressure consultation with one of our therapists. You’ll get the chance to share what’s going on, ask any open questions and see if we would be a good match.
